About PBW

  • Poetry Behind the Walls (PBW) book series, is one of the only ongoing book series in the world that is dedicated to writings from youth that are incarcerated.

  • PBW the Walls book series, is a project of Save the Kids.

  • PBW is a fully-volunteer project to promote the voices of youth incarcerated in the U.S. This project is not a fundraiser for Save the Kids.

  •  PBW book costs $10.00 retail = $5.00 for production and $2.00 for publisher (Arissa Media Group and Small Pres United) and the $3.00 profit goes to cover stamps, paper, letters, envelops, and free copies to judges, social workers, teachers, activists, youth, parents, schools, libraries, prisoners, and others we feel necessary to have. The editors of PBW often do music benefit shows to cover the extra costs.

  • PBW is always looking for more writing by incarcerated youth and outside volunteers.

Goal of PBW

  • The goal of PBW is to provide space for youth to express themselves nonviolently. PBW as well, supports and encourages youth when they see their work published.
